Logitudinal waves

Logitudinal waves are waves which propagate in the direction coincident with the direction of vibration on each part of the existing. Wave that occurred in the form of density and renggangan. Examples of such longitudinal waves slingki / spring that is pulled to the side and then released.

In a longitudinal wave the particle displacement is parallel to the direction of wave propagation. The animation below shows a one-dimensional longitudinal plane wave propagating down a tube.

The particles do not move down the tube with the wave; they simply oscillate back and forth about their individual equilibrium positions.

Selecting a single particle and watch his movements.
Wave was seen as movement of the compression area (for example, is a pressure wave), which moves from left to right. The wave is seen as the motion of the compressed region (ie, it is a pressure wave), Which moves from left to right.
